Beyond Ratings, an independent financial services provider specialised in macro-financial assessment of country and sovereign risk, completes its management team with the objective of deploying its financial rating agency activities.
Élie Hériard Dubreuil, previously Senior Director at S&P Global, joins Beyond Ratings as Head of the Financial Rating division. This will accelerate the roll-out of Beyond Ratings’ enhanced ratings offering of sovereigns, supranational entities and municipalities.
Adding to Beyond Ratings’ enhanced rating expertise
Élie Hériard Dubreuil leads the financial rating division at Beyond Ratings. He will oversee the roll-out of Beyond Ratings’ enhanced ratings expertise, incorporating long-term sustainability factors (Environmental, Social, Governance – ESG) in their financial ratings of sovereigns, supranational entities
and sub-sovereigns. He joins Rodolphe Bocquet and Sylvain Château on the Executive Committee of Beyond Ratings.
This arrival takes place two months after the launch of the creation by Beyond Ratings of the first financial rating agency whose analysis systematically integrates ESG factors affecting credit risk, in particular ecological debt and climate change. Élie will be involved in the definition of an innovative credit risk methodology based on the development of an international network of experts (academics, research centres, foundations, think tanks etc.). Élie Hériard Dubreuil’s expertise and experience will be invaluable in the implementation of this rating methodology that will take into account climatic, physical and transition risks.
Strong experience in sovereign ratings
Prior to joining Beyond Ratings, Élie worked at the rating agency S&P Global for 12 years, in which he held various global responsibilities in Paris, New York and London. Most recently, he worked in the “methodology” department, advising analysts on sovereign ratings, international public finances and supranationals, having been at the head of the rating of supranational entities. Élie has also been involved in rating analysis, research and methodological projects in the rating department of financial institutions. In particular, he created the RACF (Risk Adjusted Capital Framework) for financial institutions for S&P Global Ratings.
Before joining S&P Global Ratings, Élie was in charge of the modelling of prudential and economic capital at CDC IXIS and the Caisses d’Epargne group. He has been involved in the validation of banking investment models and methodologies, as well as in the development of benchmark risk modelling tools. He previously worked in structured credit ratings on various asset classes and credit risk modelling for Fitch Ratings, another global credit rating agency.
Élie is an engineer graduated from the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (ENSAE). He was also a lecturer in risk measurement and management at Sciences Po and at Pierre & Marie Curie University in Paris.
Élie Hériard Dubreuil, newly appointed Head of Financial Ratings at Beyond Ratings comments: “I am happy to join Beyond Ratings in a context where the financial materiality of sustainable development issues is a growing concern for investors and regulators, questions to which Beyond Ratings provides innovative answers. Like the management team, I am strongly convinced that the synthesis of economic, financial and sustainability risks within an augmented financial rating will provide the market with a new standard in the face of long-term challenges. I look forward to participating in its deployment”.
Rodolphe Bocquet, Co-founder and CEO of Beyond Ratings underlines that: “The arrival of Élie Hériard Dubreuil allows us to accelerate the deployment of our rating offer to sovereigns, supranational entities and municipalities. It illustrates the attraction of the emergence of a positive finance. It is part of our ambitions to bring together a very high level of expertise at the crossroads of financial and non-financial fields”.
