Beyond Ratings joins the philanthropic business network 1% for the Planet and hopes to inspire other companies in the financial sector to do so
They have chosen to repay 1% of their turnover annually to environmental associations
1% for the Planet is an international network of entrepreneurs who have understood that their sustainability is also linked to the state of the planet and have decided to assume their share of responsibility in its preservation, created in 2002
“There is a big difference between paying a percentage of your profits and paying a percentage of your turnover,” says Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia. “In one case, it’s a charitable gesture, and in the other, entrepreneurs demonstrate concretely that environmental values are at the heart of their company’s business plan”
“We are very pleased to welcome Beyond Ratings into our network,” said Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet. “Currently, only 3% of total donations are dedicated to the environment and only 3% of this total comes from the business community. The planet deserves more than that. Our growing network of member companies is contributing to the increase in environmental philanthropy and therefore to the impact on the field. “
Beyond Ratings joins 1% for the Planet for 3 of its flagship services: the Sovereign Risk Monitor, which offers an enhanced assessment of sovereign debt, the Carbon Footprint service, which measures the carbon footprint of investors’ bond portfolios, and ESG Sovereign Factor-In that facilitates the innovative integration of ESG factors in the management of sovereign bond portfolios.
“Finance has a key role to play in protecting the environment! ” said Rodolphe Bocquet, CEO of Beyond Ratings. “By a fair measure of risk, it can enable the mobilization of the investments necessary for sustainable growth patterns. By joining 1% for the Planet, we want to contribute beyond our expertise. We hope to make many emulators within the financial center of Paris and beyond. “
1% for the Planet now has more than 1200 member companies in 49 countries. In 13 years, more than $ 150 million was paid by member companies directly to environmental associations.
